Special Needs Financial Planning

I interviewed Colin Meeks, Certified Financial Planner, about special needs financial planning, including special needs trusts and ABLE accounts. You can sign up for the webinar replay here:

If you have a special needs child, you must plan for two lifetimes: yours and your child’s.

To properly plan for your entire family, setting up a timeline is a crucial step – you cannot afford to miss important pressure points.

In order to prepare well, you must have three things:

  • Updated legal documents
  • Protection and liquidity plan
  • A planning strategy that mirrors your family’s goals and priorities, updated annually like a tax return

Special Needs Financial Planning

In this webinar, you will understand how to set these up as well as gain:

  • Understanding of the benefits of a special needs trust
  • Knowledge of the benefits of an ABLE account and how it differs from a special needs trust
  • A template to create your very own special needs financial planning timeline (fill in the blanks)
  • A punchlist of things to do and when to do them (based on your child’s age)
  • Unique ideas that may help you better plan for your family’s future

Colin Meeks’ practice serves around 150 traditional financial planning families.

With 23+ years of insurance, investment, income planning, financial planning and “people” experience, Colin helps guide clients through many of the complex and special situations they encounter.

As a Certified Financial Planner®, he proudly acts in a fiduciary capacity in client relationships at all times and is an outspoken advocate for full and honest fee disclosure in his industry.

Colin was named in Baltimore Magazine as a Five Star Wealth Manager in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016*, a distinction given to less than 3% of the area’s wealth managers.

Preventing Language Regression

I interviewed Knut Wittkowski, PhD DSc about preventing language regression.

You can sign up for the replay below:

Among the >60,000 U.S. children who develop autism spectrum disorders (ASD) every year, 20,000 become nonverbal and will have to rely on assisted living for the rest of their life.

What if there is a way to prevent language regression in babies?

Preventing Language RegressionListen in as I interview Knut Wittkowski of The Rockefeller University about his exciting research about this possibility and how simple it may be in preventing language regression.

Knut Wittkowski, PhD and DSc  is the Head of Biostatistics, Epidemiology & Research Design at The Rockefeller University in New York City.

He is a published author of at least 61 peer-reviewed medical journal research articles and is knowledgeable in a wide variety of medical topics as they relate to the human genome.

Pleasurable Childbirth with Debra Pascali-Bonaro

I  interviewed Debra Pascali-Bonara, a childbirth educator and co-author of “Orgasmic Birth” about pleasurable childbirth.

You can sign up for the replay below:

Children with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism, ADHD and Sensory Processing Disorder often experienced birth trauma.

In a 2016 study, researchers found that babies whose mothers received Pitocin, an epidural or a combination of the two were 2.77 times more likely to be on the autism spectrum.

Pleasurable Childbirth with Debra Pascali-Bonaro

In addition, children with autism are 2.32 times more likely to have undergone labor induction.

I hypothesize that the risk of having a child with ADD/ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder, learning disabilities and developmental delays would be increased as well.

What if we could lower this risk by having women understand that Pitocin and an epidural may not be necessary?

What if pregnant women understood that childbirth is both powerful and pleasurable?

Join us in this webinar as famed childbirth educator Debra Pascali-Bonaro helps us reclaim our power!

Debra Pascali-Bonaro is a:

  • Lamaze International childbirth educator
  • Birth and postpartum doula trainer with DONA International
  • Director of the award-winning documentary “Orgasmic Birth: The Best-Kept Secret”

  • Founder & President of the revolutionary online childbirth class Pain to Power, which prepares expectant mothers, fathers, and partners to be positively prepared for birth and focuses on the intimate and sacred nature of birth

Debra’s passion comes from her over 30 years of working with women, men, midwives, doulas and physicians in over 40 countries bringing comfort, love and pleasure to birth and life!

Low Dose Immunotherapy with Darin Ingels, ND

I interviewed Darin Ingels, ND about low dose immunotherapy.

You can sign up for the replay below:

Children with neurodevelopmental disorders have multiple defects in immune function, and the severity of immune dysfunction is proportional to the severity of the disorder.

Low Dose Immunotherapy with Darin Ingels, NDAllergies are often underdiagnosed and undertreated due to lack of verbal skills of the child or the lack of understanding by parents of what symptoms may be caused by allergy.

In this webinar, we discussed the difference between low dose immunotherapy (LDI) and sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT).

In essence, LDI is for alleviating immune response to microbes such as viruses and bacteria, while SLIT is helpful for food-based and environmental allergies.

Over 300 published studies show that sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) is equally or more effective than allergy shots in reducing allergy and asthma symptoms.

SLIT may be used in children who are not eligible to receive conventional allergy injections or who may have sensory issues that would prohibit using injections.

SLIT is more convenient than injection immunotherapy because the drops are administered at home by the parent, meaning fewer office visits and no needles.

SLIT will often diminish symptoms within weeks.

Darin Ingels is a licensed naturopathic physician in the State of Connecticut and a licensed Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine in the State of California, where he maintains practices in both states.

He is Board certified in Integrated Pediatrics by the American Association of Integrative Medicine.

He has written a chapter on allergy desensitization for autistic children in “Cutting Edge Therapies for Autism” (Skyhorse, 2014).

He is the author of the upcoming book on Lyme disease, “The Lyme Solution: A 5-Part Immune Boosting Plan to Fight Inflammation and Beat Lyme Disease Permanently” (Avery, 2018), which will cover an integrative, natural approach to the treatment and management of Lyme disease.

Dr. Ingels’ practice focuses on environmental medicine with special emphasis on chronic immune dysfunction, including Lyme disease, autism, allergies, asthma, PANDAS, recurrent or persistent infections and other genetic or acquired immune problems.

His practice is comprised of both children and adults. He uses diet, nutrients, herbs, homeopathy and immunotherapy to help his patients achieve better health.

Many children with autism, ADHD and SPD had birth trauma and birth complications.

Your child’s birth and any complications during birth can still have an impact on his or her life today. (The same applies to you, mom!)

I interviewed Eilis McNulty Philpott about this empowering process. You can sign up below for the replay:

Rebirthing is a simple breathing technique that can transform your mind, body and spirit as well as how you perceive yourself, others and the world in general.

The results are often profound as the process works directly at the core of issues whether conscious or unconscious.

Healing Birth Trauma Through Rebirthing BreathworkRebirthing brings expanded awareness on all levels: physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual.

When we consciously breathe with this awareness, we make it possible to resolve, integrate and heal previously unresolved issues within ourselves.

This frees up energy, bringing greater aliveness and joy and allowing us to move towards fulfillment of our potential as human beings.

It also creates space in your life for joy, love, health, prosperity and functional relationships.

The Hidden Link Between Food Sensitivities and Learning Disabilities

Please join me in learning about the hidden link between food sensitivities and learning disabilities. You can sign up for the replay below:

I interviewed Stephen Cowan MD, who told us how food allergies and sensitivities can be a “learning disability”.

He offered a unique perspective within the framework of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

The Hidden Link Between Food Sensitivities and Learning DisabilitiesFood is information. If our bodies don’t understand this “information”, then the food just sits there.

The “triple warmer” is fired up to create heat to process this information, and this creates inflammation.

The over-processed, overstimulating fast foods we eat in our fast-paced world are contributing to learning disabilities in our children.

Hidden food sensitivities can cause symptoms such as:

  • Inability to pay attention
  • Distractability
  • Behavioral problems
  • Irritability
  • Aggression
  • Fatigue

Traditional Chinese Medicine recognizes that each food has its own thermo-energetic properties that can be used to treat health problems.

In treating children, the Chinese medicine classics emphasize that diet should always be considered the first line of therapeutics before prescribing medications.

Stephen Cowan MD is a board-certified pediatrician with 25 years of clinical experience working with children.

He has a subspecialty in Developmental Pediatrics and has developed a unique holistic approach to evaluating and treating children struggling with chronic physical, emotional and cognitive disorders.

Dr. Cowan is the author of “Fire Child, Water Child: How Understanding The Five Types of ADHD Can Help You Improve Your Child’s Self-Esteem and Attention”.
