ARE YOU USING ANTIFREEZE FOR CONSTIPATION?

Say what?  Antifreeze?  If you’re taking Miralax or any other laxative that contains polyethylene glycol, you (or your KIDS!) are essentially ingesting antifreeze, which is ethylene glycol.

Chemically speaking, polyethylene glycol is made from stringing ethylene glycols together.

Once again, I was furious at the lack of knowledge (and condescending attitude) of my former pediatrician for prescribing Miralax for my sons’ constant constipation when they were toddlers.

Do you think the pediatrician understood how gut dysbiosis can cause chronic constipation?  Do you think he talked about changing my sons’ diet to over come the constipation?  No!

What’s even more infuriating is the FDA’s safety alert in December 2011 that Miralax and its clones are NEUROTOXINS!

This terrific article by Gutsense.org also explains how, because polyethylene glycol blocks nutrient absorption, it may lead to the onset of autism in a toddler with severe iron or iodine deficiency.

Polyethylene glycol is also an excellent toilet-bowl cleaner, so maybe it should just be used for that, except that it’s toxic to any living thing.

Be careful of its pseudonym “Carbowax Sentry“, which shows up in chewing gum, energy drinks, toothpastes, lotions, soaps and shampoos.
